Sibilance

I would say that sibilance is NOT a problem with the Tjoeb for most people (at least yours truly). Maybe some staunchly devoted to vinyl would think so. But I tried to offer a balanced assessment; no piece of equipment does everything perfectly. On some recordings of female vocal there is just a tad of sibilance (over emphasis of "s" or "ch" sound) at the start of a syllable, but it is not distracting; you really have to listen for it and be in "critical mode". The highs on the Tjoeb are actually quite good. Percussion brushwork and cymbals are well resolved and present. I might also add that I do not have any of the really expensive tubes in the 6dj8 family; only the Jan 6922, the russion 6h23 (bold and dynamic) and the Amperex Bugle Boy (dimensional and holographic). Some folks have modd'd the output caps and/or resistors, but the engineer behind the Tjoeb voiced it by ear, and again is a great value as it is built. I use a passive TVC that is transparent, and a very direct, immediate sounding tube amp with hi-eff speakers. The system is quite resolving of low level info. YMMV depending on the system, and particularly the preamp and speakers
