suggest you try plugging just the source, pre-amp, dac into the hydra.sometimes when you plug in the power amp, the effects are congested, slow, lacking in dynamics, etc.
Off course, different gears react differently so you should try it out.
base on my short experience, the hydra benefits, the cd player, dac & sometimes pre-amp. The amp is a mix bag. Some amps like it with the hydra, some amps dont.
