I had to actually unplug the player for several minutes to get something inside the player to reset itself (I'll call it the 'firmware' but I'll probably get laughed at ; ) Powering the unit down did not address it as the internal circuit stayed live, in sort of a standby. The problem was intermittent so I pretty much ignored it.I also had a player that would do odd things until I reseated the internal ribbon wiring strip and that took care of it.
CDP's seem to be the crankiest of audio gear. Good luck!
