I use a Monarchy DIP 24/96 classic between a Sony C222ES changer and a Theta Probasic IIIa DAC,to my ears it seemed to make the top end more accurate,without it there seemed to be some hash or noise in the highs,I also tried my Oppo 971 dvd as a transport with the same DAC/DIP combo and heard the same results, as a side note the Sony was a much better sounding transport than the Oppo.
