That's not to say their basic models aren't so good, I just haven't tried any.
I had a couple of Sony ES CDP transports which worked well with my outboard Lite Audio tube DAC, but when I tried the Denon offerings things improved considerably. The Sony sound was detailed and forward with decent dynamics. The Denon sound was more refined with less brightness and more control in the midrange. Nice and smooth.
