Don't worry - every couple of years there's a new flavour DAC chip which dramatically improves on previous chips, but by and large they're just different flavours rather than better, and even if a 'better' flavour is developed it will be utilized in mass market players with sub-standard components, power supplies, wiring etc.It might be worth you contacting your Audio Note dealer to enquire as to whether there are any upgrades to your player such as the removal of the analogue filter, but certainly don't be overly concerned that your player is in need of being put out to pasture, and certainly not because you're goig to replace it with a piece of junk that wouldn't be fit to lace the Audio Note's boots. :0)
