...as a fellow DI/O owner, I agree with your sentiment about the cost effectiveness and capability of the unit to improve matters on the playback front of CDs. For kicks, I brought a recent entry level Toshiba (SD-3990 ) and think it would serve as a excellent stop gap measure for playing back your Redbook CDs...it might even surprise you if you upgraded the op-amp to something more in line with the op-amp upgrade in the DI/O.PeAK
