Config problem - looking for neutral DAC with remote control, OR digital remote control

A solution to my quandry is a long shot, but I figured you guys may have some suggestions.

Here's the configuration: modded ARC SP6 preamp, with a room eq stack in the tape monitor circuit: "Sound Shaper" vintage Philips AD converter (dual 20bit) --> Behringer SRC2496 --? DEQ2496 room eq --> SRC2496 --> FINAL DAC.

Looking for a very neutral DAC with a remote control in the digital domain, or a Digital 24/96 volume remote control that I can stick after the DEQ but before the 'FINAL DAC'.

Currently, have an ARC DAC1-20 in the 'final DAC' position. Pretty neutral, but its a touch veiled and does not have volume control. But, the benefits of digital room Eq outweigh the cost of reduced resolution.

Since I have the digital Eq on all the time, figured its a good place to add digital volume control too, without another layer between the preamp and amp. Is there such a thing? A kit maybe? Anyone here want to make one?

The problem is that my wife needs to be able to turn on, switch inputs and use the system. Currently there are too many digital and analog sources for easy switching at the preamp. CDP/DAC, PC/DAC, SACD, TT1 on external Phono preamp, TT2 on internal phono amp, tuner.

One solution might be to get a main DAC with input switching and a digital tape monitor loop, and stick the Behringer stuff in there. Use that DAC for digital switching, and convert the phono amps to digital with AD converters. So use the DAC for all input switching, volume control, and the preamp for max volume setting only. But then I'll need to find good AD converters.

Appreciate all the thoughts. Thanks, Samir.
