The burner's firmware determines the speeds it will support. Secondly, there is NO advantage to burning at 1x. In fact, most burners will make superior copies at 8-24x - ask the engineers who designed 'em. The speed rating on the blanks (48x, 52x, etc.) is the maximum speed they will support. Most newer burners will NOT burn at 1x - or even 2x or 4x. I typically use the middle of the pack, usually 16x nowadays.Stop stressing over this non-issue and just get on with your burning...
