Re: Apogee Mini Dac ?'s

I have the older Apogee DA-1000E converter which also has balanced outs and can run off a battery. I don't use a battery myself but hope to try sooner or later.

According to my manual, battery voltage doesn't matter within the range defined by the minimum and maximum parameters. I imagine the mini-DAC is the same.

As for the balanced outs, my interconnects are configured with XLRs at one end and RCA connectors at the other. (My preamp is single-ended.) You can do the same. Just make sure you connect the hot wire to the correct pin on the XLRs--it's pin 2 on mine but 1) you can configure the DA-1000 to use either pin 2 or pin 3 as hot, and 2) your manual should tell you which pin to use.

Not too many people seem to be using Apogee DACs here. Nice to hear from another one.
