I was looking for a quiet CD player as well and I bought the Oppo DVD player at last. I borrowed a marantz CD5001 and thought it was quiet, but the oppo was even quieter. Almost no sound at all during play except during startup and skipping tracks etc. However, just keep in mind that my room may not be as quiet as your office.
