I second the computer based system, I have a Mac Mini and a Scott Nixon USB Tube Dac. I'm done with cd players and the whole merry go round of better 'digital' sound. I know there is better but I'm having too much fun to stop and go look for it. Oh by the way, the computer and dac was right around $1K.
