Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Any comments on Camelot Roundtable mkII as CD and DVD player?

I'm hoping to combine my 2-channel and HT systems since they live in the same room, on the same rack (they just don't share speakers). It would be really cool if I could save some shelf space by replacing one of my CD players (either Resolution Audio Opus 21 or Meridian 508.24) with a DVD player that has excellent redbook playback. So far, I've not found such a beast. All of the DVD players I've tried did not sound very good as CD players or even as transports with an external DAC.

Has anyone successfully replaced a world-class CD player (at the $3000-$4000 price level) with a high end DVD player like the Camelot Roundtable mk II or a Cary DVD-6, 7 or 8? These players seem to share the same audio DACs with their dedicated CD player counterparts and in the case of the Camelot, the Roundtable has the same audio output as the top of the line Uther DAC.

The goal is a simplified system saving a little shelf space. However, if the Camelot or Cary's don't sound as good as their dedicated CD player counterparts, I'm not interested.

Thanks and Enjoy,

TIC
