Re: Audio Note CD2.1x - Leave on permanently? - Yes

I leave my AN pre-amp and DAC permanently on. The power amp is switched on about an hour before I settle into some serious listening.

I replaced all the tubes in my M5 pre-amp after about 2 years and 5 months (21,000 hours approx, without factoring in periods when I was away on holiday and everything was switched off). With the new tubes in it was apparent that the sound with the old tubes had become ‘thin’ and slightly ‘hard’, and the soundstage was recessed, although this had not been very obvious beforehand. I think I'd left it a little too long, and next time shall I pop in a new set of tubes after about two years to see if things have started to noticeably deteriorate.
