I picked up a Pacific Valve Modified DAC-AM. Sounds fantastic with movies and surprisingly good with CDs. I think I paid $340. You'll have to trash the stock power cord with it. Yikes.
I like it better than my Linn Classik which I was using as a CD player. If you search here, you will probably find more input from me on it.
