You're right. It is a very good DVD player even though Musical Fidelity was not known for multichannel/home theatre products. A buddy of mine has been using one as his 2-channel source for quite a a while and just recently bought a Bel Canto DAC3 from me so now is just using the DVD-1 as a transport. However, even just using the analog outs it does a great job. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours very much.
