I've tried balanced and single ended and haven't heard anything between them.
Why not bipass your preamp and run direct to the amps with the Capitoles volume control?
Your best tweek for this player is the ESP 'The Essence' power cord. Unbelievable how a PC can open up the soundstage.
Also, Brian at www.essentialaudio.com sells a thing called 'The Plug' which I use - it connects on your PC then plugs into the line conditioner....also made a nice improvement.
Then try a Silent Running Audio platform - they have a custom made design for the Capitole MKII that works great.
I don't have the SE mod yet, but I'm thinking about it. I just can't bear to send the player to Canada, with all the shipping hassles and risks.Rooze
