I see that there are some available now (and the also hard to find DCX) but haven't heard of any date codes newer than May/05. I would suggest that if you want one that you jump on it now as these may all still be over stock from slow markets that is being redistributed. Zzounds, Sameday, ect. have them for 130.00 with free shipping. An SRC2496 in front of most dacs will improve the sound if good cables are used. Apogee rca and xlr is a good deal as is the Radioshack gold optical. The Behringer 2496s not only give great sound for the money but are mind blowingly fun and flashy to play with. I have been doing listening tests on the second version direct out mods this week and have settled on the values so will try to get schematics and pricing posted. There is also an article in AudioExpress detailing another version of mods but the high output impedences they recommend don't sound very good into passive volume controls.
