Good you like it. Forums are to discuss things, right? If some of stuff one uses do bad things to the sound, but he still likes it - nothing wrong with that.WMP known to employ very bad DSP algorithms, designed for low fidelity MP3 listening. USB DACs, unless use I2S, known for high jitter - that's just facts.
I would say Squeezebox feeding your DAC with DEQ in between might (well, should - but who knows) sound even better.
