I have had a similar experience with my system... I figured out that the loud pops were triggered everytime certain -not all- electric devices would be turned on or off. I also figured out that the pops occured only when my Kimber Digital-X spdif cable was used between my Yamaha DVD and my MSB DAC. The pops do not occur with any other digital coaxial cables. Weird...
