Yeah, there was a Benchmark available locally - quite a rarity - so I almost picked it up. But I'm still so set aback by the radical change the Behringer has wrought, any more change would be stirring the pot just a little too much right now - I need at least a month to settle in now. I'd love to hear them side by side, both being pro-audio. I just consider the Behringer DAC to be free anyway - hell the Behringer would be a steal without D/A and A/D, both of which it has.The fact that it sounds as good as it does with the Behringer DAC though is part of what makes me so happy right now, if the internal DAC sounds this good, possibly Benchmark even better (it's very reasonably priced too), I figure I'm but one step away from nirvana. As luck would have it, despite the small size of the city I now live in, they have audionote DAC's aplenty, I'm thinking of trying a 3.1 balanced - I'd have never spent that much before, but if it with the Behringer/Audionote comb can check me out of the audio chase whilst keeping a solid state amp nonetheless, it will be well worth the price. It's probably as close as I'll get to zero tubes, I think digital will still ultimately need tubes to even approach good analog. The audionote isn't simply a "tube chaser" though, it appears to be an inherent part of it's design.
