While you wait for Peter, here's a less informed opinion.The CDT 2 Mk I is a superb transport. It has been used in Audio Note reference systems for several years now. My CDT 2 MK 2 won't arrive until next week, but I'm told it is significantly better than the Mk I. It is audibly superior to the CDT 1 Mk 1.
I am also told the CDT 1 MK 2 is somewhat better than the CDT 1 MK 1, thanks mainly to improved power supply, but not up to either of the CDT 2's. The Philips transport is simply better than the Sony.
Based on what I've heard at first hand coupled with informed hearsay, I would rank the transports as follows:
1. CDT 2 MK 2
2. CDT 2 MK 1
3. CDT 1 MK 2
4. CDT 1 MK 1So my advice is unless you can afford the new CDT 2, go happily with the CDT 2 MK 1.
