As someone who used to have Rogue gear, listens to 70% classical and who's also in the hunt for a new player:

NEW or DEMO
Cary 303/300
Ayre CX-7
Lector CDP-7T or their ss top loader
Musical Fidelity A5 (Haven't heard, but sounds interesting)
Arcam CD33

USED
Cary 306/200
AudioMecca Mephisto
ARC CD3 Mk II

Nothing nastier than the sound of massed violins through the haze of digititis. OTOH, a player that can handle the dynamics and complexities of large scale classical music, the delicasy of chamber music, the coherency of intrumental music as well as the subtle nuances of the human voice - well, fewer players do that all well than you might think.

Good luck.
