I use an Arcam CD 72T in an all SS system ( newest Bryston) and listen to a wide range of music. My experience with the Arcam, and every single review that I have ever read, points out the general Arcam sound- smoothly detailed and transparent in a musical way. They are, most definetly, not upfront, forward sounding machines. I like my older model so well that I have not bothered to upgrade.
Check out the new 73 or 192 models. An establised company so no chance of here today-no parts tomorrow problems.
