Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Sony 507ESD

My Denon DCD1500II was not reading disks when it is left on a long time so I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a alternate. I came accross this Sony 507ESD in a thrift store for $25.00. It's missing the remote but that's not that big a deal to me, since I came of age in the era of vinyl, so I tend to just pop a CD in an listen. I tested it on my Grado SR60 heaphones and it sounds good as far as I can tell. Anybody know anything about this player?

I understand that is is next to TOTL, behind the 707ESD. Mfg. date is 1988. It shares the 8x/18bit Philips digital chip with the 707. Supposedly this chip was highly respected. Build quality looks very good on this unit. Even if its sound quality can be beat by a cheap DVD player but you sure don't get the build quality of this machine.
