Will a $625 Chinese machine equal 2 of the best $3000-$3500 machines? Probably no more likely then a $625 speaker equaling Merlin TSM, Focus Audio FS688 or Reference 3A DeCapoi.On a more sane note. The only player I have had in the price range to compare was a Musical Fidelity A5 ($2500) and that was only for a weekend. Take the E5 in a heartbeat.
As to your question is anyone actually opting for the E5 that has $3000 to spend? I would assume so. Audiocostruzioni (sister website of TNT) uses it as their reference player and stated the player is living quite happily in some European Audiophile systems that cost more then 30,000 Euro (35,000-40,000 US dollars).
