Jim-Mine is plugged in the PS300 with multiwave and at first I thought that was the problem but when I switched the ps300 into single Sin(wave) at 60hz setting and the problem still persists. The noise you were refering to is the transformer's mechanical ping noise and it's most noticable around the SS1 or SS4 setting for many electronic components, I recalled I had this noise problem when I had my SCD1 player a year ago and I emailed Paul of PSAudio and he confirmed that came from the Sony's transformer. Interestingly enough, the tick noise I was refering to is totally gone when I switched to regular cd mode of the same software. Try this in your Sony and let me know what you find. Thanks
