Thanks for all the comments; it helps to know that others have observed similar crazy things. In fact, I would never have come back to power cord experiments without the many comments I have seen over time on the Asylum (capitalized because there's only one).However, here are some new findings from switching power cords on DAC and preamp - using Frank Dai's Signal Cable high current digital cords, the effects of switching were small to unobservable (and negative if anything) after 30 hours on the refrigerator-freezer to burn in the cords. These are much lower cost cables, but seem well-made and come from a source that makes spectacularly good speaker cables. I am continuing to burn them in on the audio gear, but I wonder: has everyone had such different experiences with different pieces of gear? That is, could it be that power supply is so dependent on the particular conext and piece of gear that you just have to try everything on everything to get a system that works together?
