Before "feeling duped", or generating rumors on the net, you should be checking into the facts. Here's some information you should know.

Cable sound quality is a factor of both materials AND configuration designs, as well as how these materials are used in combination with one another. All of Robert Lee's Acoustic Zen designs are Patent Pending. They are used ONLY in Acoustic Zen cables! Acoustic Zen cables sound different from both Neotech's and Harmonic Technology's.

There are almost none (if any) cable companies that actually do their own production of the bulk cable itself. This work is contracted out to facilities equipped for bulk cable production, and it is manufactured according to the specs of the company doing the ordering.

There are only three plants in the world who are licensed to produce the Ohno continuous cast copper. All cable companies that use it in their products (Acoustic Zen, Harmonic Tech, Neotech, Analysis Plus, etc.) are getting it from one of these three plants.

Terminations, as well as cosmetic touches such as jackets, are handled by the brand companies themselves, often in house.

As for actual parts such as connectors (RCAs, XLRs, spades, bananas...), most of those seen in cables on the market are sourced from a parts manufacturer. It's not uncommon to see the same part on different brands of cable. A brand name or particular design parameters are frequently customized.

Neotech is a company owned by a cousin of Robert Lee. Robert Lee actually was in charge of marketing for Neotech before he started up Harmonic Technology. Neotech does not sell any of Robert Lee's Acoustic Zen patented cable designs. They may use similar connectors, such as RCAs. Acoustic Zen's have center pins made of continuous cast copper...I'm not sure about Neotech's, though they may have the same outer appearance.

So, don't feel you are being duped! If you buy an Acoustic Zen product, it is EXCLUSIVELY an Acoustic Zen product.
