If you agree that cables have such a huge effect on system, then you must also agree that changing component would have exponential (power of 10) effect (you can't have it both way :)Just throwing more money at active components doesn't always necessarily yield great benefits. The power of diminishing returns comes into play. I don't know of any $4000 CDPs that are more musical than my $3000 GamuT. For that $1000, however, I was able to upgrade the power cords to my monoblocks which did yield clearly audible improvements.
