Apparentl;y, yours is one of those situations tht needs a ground connect between the two components.As noted in the referenced post, a simple 16 ga. stranded tinned copper wire from pin 1 to ground of the RCA should do the job.
You might be able to cure the hum by connecting the two chassis together, but as with any grounding issue, due caution should be excercised, and if you do not know what to look out for, don't try it.
