About a year ago, I allocated several thousand dollars to the pursuit of a better, upgraded sound system. With DIYing, I have spent about 30% of that money on my current system, have a ridiculously satisfying setup, a great basic electronics education AND I can still buy a great digital AND analog source with the money I have left over.
this hobby is a blast - a bit time consuming, but more than worth it if you like great music AND electronic doohickies. it only requires some education, soldering skills and patience.
