Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

RE: If I were a "big-baller"....

I buy a lot of cables from AliExpress and, while being unable to check the claimed purity of the metal, at least it always sounded like it was supposed to - and quality silver sounds great, bad silver sounds awful, same goes for copper.
My Xangsane pure silver interconnects are the best I've ever owned, period. If it's not very good silver, then I don't know what it is, something supernatural maybe, or magic.
Even my last purchase, those oh-so-cheap "Accuphase" (LOL) interconnects sound better than anything else at the price. I don't know about the purity of the copper they use, I just know it's supposed to be "OFC copper" but damn!!! they sound good. Same goes for their 40$ power cords.
My "Nordeast Valhalla" speaker cables, again, are the best speaker cables I've owned - obviouly there are ethical issues attached to it, being copies, but, you can't doubt the quality of the metal. It just can't sound THAT good if the metal is crap.

If I had 800$ for a power cord, I would most certainly consider a Chinese product, which according to my previous experiences might to sound like a 5 or 10 times more expensive cable.

China is more than capable of producing quality. They are OEM for many big $$$ brands all over the world. Sure there are lemons, but a bit of research, reading buyer reviews, and common sense goes a long way to avoid them.
