A favorite moderate-cost spade for a solder-terminated speaker cable is the Xhadow Reference Spade, which is a silver-plated pure copper universal stepped spade that fits both 6mm (1/4") and 9mm (5/16")binding posts. The Xhadow Reference Spade sounds very good, with no brightness sometimes associated with silver-plated cables. A nice choice to use with a solid core pure sliver speaker cable. I'm sure Bob Crump would approve it for a re-termination project. Out of the two solders mentioned, I'd choose the Cardas solder for the task.
