There are some pretty simple variables that you might include in your 'analysis'. That includes the major characteristics you know about. Doesn't include the relevant variables you don't know about and cannot characterize.
Changing out power cables in my system has made a substantial difference. Being able to hear the difference depends on how good your system is - if other components lack clarity or create excess background noise, you will not be able to hear the improvement of the cable. Not an excuse, but just reality.
I agree with a prior poster - just trust your ears. Also a reason to upgrade systematically, and replace the lowest performing piece of equipment first. That reduces the overall noise floor of your system, and allows you to better evaluate future upgrades.
