The unshielded Furutech Alpha 3 is better suited for amplification, and for source components an unshielded power cord is also advisable, since keep in mind the affectation of the shielding is not so much for the benefit of the component its connected to, it's to protect adjacent audio cables and components from EMI radiated from the power cord. For the most part, I avoid shielded power cables since keeping audio cables that are sensitive to EMI away from an unshielded power cord is a better sounding approach.
The sonic effect of the very thin pure copper floating shield of the Acoustic Revive 8800 and the grounded very thin pure copper shield of the Oyaide Black Mamba V2 is so mild, they should not be considered in the same category as a heavy-handed braided shield or aluminum foil shielded power cable tends to produce. I prefer the 8800 vs. the Alpha 3 since Furutech power cords and signal cables are not as impressive as the performance of their connectors.
