can your wife sketch at all? or in any event, if you're willing to pay 'antique' prices why not look into a commissioned piece? there's woodworker / cabinet makers all over looking for business ...
at the link for instance, they seem to work well with oak
you've probably considered this but why not scout around for a quote?
this way you'll get what's needed to your exact specs and 'theme'
