Tara Labs RSC Master Gen 2, Part 6

In the 80s, it was okay for girls to walk arm-in-arm, down the street.

In the 90s, these girls became young adults. Then, it became acceptable for girls to kiss each other.

But please, no tongue!

Because I had digital front ends from Theta Digital and California Audio Labs in the mid-90s, these girls would bring over their CDs. But we also brought it transports, DACs, and CD players from Adcom, Arcam, Audio Alchemy, Classe', Conrad-Johnson, Counterpoint, Linn, NAD, Rotel, and Sonic Frontiers. Not all had balanced XLR operation, so one RCA interconnect we had was the Tara Labs RSC Master Gen 2.

One girl brought over Garbage's eponymous album. She liked "Stupid Girl," which is about fulfilling your potential. Well, for a cable to fulfill its potential, it has to be Cooked. And that's what we've done with ALL of our cables, even those which had been in use since the 90s.

The Cooked RSC Master Gen 2 does have the resolution to tell us a little about the Simaudio 750D. It tells us that the 750D's internal CD drive rolls off the treble. But the treble quality is quite good, being clean. Moreover, unlike other interconnects, the RSC Master Gen 2 does not make thing worse, by shrinking the size of the treble which is there.

The RSC Master Gen 2 has sufficient resolution, to tell you what happens, when you experiment with the 750D's fuses. The Synergistic Research Red and Black are no good, like holding up a funhouse mirror. The Audio Magic Primere Beeswax fuses give a bigger, fuller, more organic picture, but with less space and air between and above the musical events. The Hi-Fi Tuning Supreme isn't bad, though a bit too bloated in the midbass and mid-treble. But ah! If you can find the discontinued Silverstar, we have a winner. The RSC Master Gen 2 reveals them to be tight, focused, detailed, extended, and controlled.

The RSC Master Gen 2 has sufficient resolution, to judge the effects of adding the 820S outboard power supply. The 820S does not address the 750D rolling off the treble. But with a tightening of the imaging, less grain, more available tonal colors, the addition of the 820S does make some listeners become more forgiving of the rolled-off treble.

In the mid-90s, DVD had not yet hit the market. Hmmm, tying the shield leads of the RSC Master Gen 2 recalls girls walking arm-in-arm down the street. One of the most important aspects of movie sound is dialog intelligibility. Via the RSC Master Gen 2, voices are not recessed, micronized, slurred, or made difficult to understand. The RSC Master Gen 2 makes voices slightly blended, sort of a "regression to the means" comfort, with nothing sticking out unnaturally. I think this makes voices get 75-80% there, and you're relatively free to get into the movie. Or, it's like being comfortable and relaxed enough, that the girls quickly and effortlessly kiss each other -- without any gratuitous tongue!
