The spectacular Oyaide AXIS-303 bulk PC

I'd like to express my appreciation for Duster's extensive experience with cables and his willingness to share it. I never considered Oyaide products until one of Duster's posts came up in a Google search.

The Black Mamba v2 is truly extraordinary and has bested pretty much everything else (including pricier Neotech and Acrolink PCs) in my system. The only cable that has an edge over BMv2 is built from wires by German company Silvercom. The retail price of the wires was 1USD/cm. And that was back when silver prices were low!

With newfound faith in Oyaide, I was eager to try out their latest award-winning AXIS-303 bulk PC. Given its lower price point and "diffusion" branding (NEO by Oyaide is a line for pro audio), I expected great but not superlative performance.

Boy, was I wrong.

Fellow inmates with the BMv2 should be familiar with its neutral sonic signature. IME the AXIS-303 somehow outperforms the BMv2 in terms of tonal neutrality. A certain level of "sweetness" in the music is gone, but its "presence" is more convincing than before. This is especially apparent when playing tracks with vocals. The depth of the soundstage also seems to improve, it is subtle but noticeable with good recordings.

Both the BMv2 and AXIS-303 were terminated with Oyaide AP(C)-004, and plugged into the amplifier when I made the comparison. I've ordered more for my source and converter, hopefully I won't end up with too much of a good thing!
