Chord Company Indigo Digital Tuned Aray Streaming, Part 5

Many of us have been in this hobby for three decades or more. Thus, we've become jaded. But the Chord Company Indigo Digital Tuned Aray Streaming Ethernet cable has been a revelation. Its revealing nature has caused us to re-calibrate how we evaluate and measure not just Ethernet cables, but streaming and computer audio. They are significantly better than we were used to or had assumed.

After being Cooked, the Chord Indigo had been to several others' homes, and the last mom returned it to me last night. So the cable went between my router and the Simaudio Mind 180. Two songs from 1985 were instrumental in displaying the Indigo's effectiveness: Kenny Loggins' "I'll Be There," and John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band's "Tough All Over." We do not have these on physical media.

Instead of being adults reminiscing about the past, the disappearing sonics was more about returning to the middle of 1985. I took Oceanography at Punahou summer school, my entrance to high school. My senior lab partner, Hina(lani), was arguably the most comely classmate I ever had. But beyond physical pleasantness, she was just a caring, level, even, merciful human being.

Since Hina and I were as different as you could get, one method we used to find common ground was to utilize her Walkman, and alternate and share songs. I do not recall which beach we had a field trip. But Hina and I were done with our work, and had a few minutes to spare and relax, before the vans would take us back to Punahou. She brought out Loggins' "I'll Be There," which we both loved, wished we could do a duet. And on my cassette was Cafferty's rolling "Tough All Over." It was new to Hina, who thought it was like Jackson Browne, Eddie Money, Greg Kihn, and the E Street Band in a blender. With Hina in her black-and-white bathing suit bouncing along to "Tough All Over," high school promised to be awesome.

The Simaudio Mind 180, via Ethernet cable, hooks up with the router. The router communicates with your computer. But it's the Mind 180, which feeds your DAC a digital signal. Well, the Chord Co. Indigo has shown that the 16-bit/44.1k file of Cafferty's "Tough All Over" sounds excellent, and just compels you to bounce and roll along, even if the song is about factories shutting down in the mid-80s.

The sound and music were so captivating, the kids, with our guidance, looked up "Tough All Over." Our Cooked AQ Forest RJ/E and Chord Company C-Stream were already very good. But if the Chord Indigo compels you to discover and look up music, that's all you need to know.
