I don't know where the notion came from about vintage cables sounding better than modern cables featuring much better copper quality than years ago. Perhaps the idea is partly based on achieving a more "vintage sound" when vintage cables are used for an old Revox or Nakamichi cassette deck.
If you wish to use an rca interconnect that is similar to an old school stereo patch cable, the inexpensive Mogami 35 Series or Mogami 36 Series are very similar to the stock rca patch cables that came with my Nakamichi cassette deck in the late 70s. I would not be surprised if Mogami made the cables for Nakamichi at that time.
