As I understand, Neutrik XLRs can usually take up to 7-8mm diameter cables with its original housing. However, I also see many commercial cables which are huge but also use some form of Neutrik XLRs. However, the entrance point is usually covered by sleeves, etc, such that I can't really see how they do it.
How is it usually done? Custom sleeves? Removing everthing else but the wires themselves at the end such that they fit? Hack it open and do without strain relief? I'm curious.
