How cool, I also used DH Labs BL-1 to build a very short DC umbilical to go between my Channel Islands Audio VAC1 and DAC2. This is carrying 14VAC; I decided to leave both shield ends unterminated.

I would try experimenting further as you are, but I can't seem to find any really good quality 5.5/2.5mm coaxial power plugs so it doesn't seem worth the effort.
