Audioquest Type 2 revisited......need recommendation

I posted last year about my AQ type 2 speaker cables turning slimy/greasy. I cleaned them off but the gunk returned a couple months later. Contacted AQ and they suggested I send them in, which I did. So what did they do? Cleaned them off and sent them back. Was hoping for a replacement or credit towards something else, as I could have saved the shipping $ and cleaned them myself.

The cables are nasty once more and before they turn the carpet red again, I thought I might try another cable. Looking for something full sounding with nothing in the way of brightness. Last resort I could run some braiding over the top, but why not move to something better. These are running between a Audio Research VT60 and Vandersteen 1C.
