Tried out a bunch of "low" priced speaker cables lately. Maybe this list can help someone in the future.
Your mileage may vary. Your faith may vary.
Natural (all volume levels):
Belden 5T00UP: Natural sounding, no faults.
Belden 1313A: Like 5T00UP, but more detailed.
Mogami W3103: Natural, even more detailed and dynamic than 1313A. My current speaker cable.
Coloring the sound:
Belden 1307A: Thin sounding at the mids and bass.
DIY 16awg .999 silver, ladder line uninsulated: Bright, weird sounding. AMAZING so you should try this at least once, it sounds unlike any other cable.
Goertz MI2: Most amazing bass ever, WOW. Highs are completely weird sounding and messed up.
Anticable level 2: Weird sounding. Good for vocals when the volume is turned up.
Audioquest SLiP 14/4: Low volume performance is very unnatural. Sounded quite good at high volumes. Unsuitable for everyday listening.
Others:
Monoprice speaker cable: not on current system but I remember them sounding good. Not 100% sure.
Finally, I'm selling most of the cable on this list (most are 6-7 feet long unterminated). Let me know if you are interested.
