I want to thank all that contributed to the construction of my cables. I did use an inch of clear Teflon shrink tubing and covered them with teleflex. Chris confirmed there were no detrimental issues. The covering of the cable is far more heat resistant than the teleflex so I didn't have to worry about the cover melting.
