Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

Funny that you posted this on the 9th

Lizzy, because over the weekend I was busy tweaking my DAC to improve the treble smoothness and switched out a fine (unshielded) VH Audio power cord for the AC-9 - and liked the Pangea better. Every time I substitute in an AC-9 for another power cord, the result is improved sound with less harshness and a richer sound palette. I was thinking of starting a thread describing my experience but you beat me to it.

I do have a technical question: why do AC cable makers often stress that shielded cables are better for digital equipment like transports & DACs. So these digital pieces produce EMI/RF, but that EMI/RF permeates the entire surrounding area, so why is it important to shield just the digital cables.
