As compared to WBT's design, the ViaBlue design features a comparatively higher-mass solid brass fork and body material. The only similarity to the WBT design is the use of copper crimping sleeves to secure the two set screws, and an insulated body. Since I have no experience of the ViaBlue spade, I can't report the sonic differences vs. the WBT spade. However, I can say that I much enjoy my WBT terminated speaker cables from both a mechanical and a sonic POV, and consider it to be a truly high end, precision audio connector. According to WBT literature (edited): The WBT spade features a special structure of the contact fork following a patented sandwich principle: an elastomer is placed between the signal conductor and a non-magnetic steel cap. The results are a constantly high contact pressure and minimalist transition resistances. Vibrations are also successfully damped. Pure copper signal conductors (Cu) are protected against oxidation by nickel-free direct gold-plating.
