I follow the UK audio scene closely, and Tellurium Q have made a big spash, winning cables of the year in two major magazines, and this with NO paid advertising.
Their technical stuff available was all about a patent pending phase coherence technology, nothing about wire. shielding, insultion e.t.c like most cable companies go on about.
Needless to say I was intruiged and hoped they were doing something unique and different to other cable companies.
They have 4 cables ranges getting progressively more expensive, Blue > Black > Green > Ultra Black. I purchased the Tellurium Q 'Black' for about $350 and have to say I was very disappointed.
There was nothing like the clarity and revelation I was expecting. The Black did get better with break in, but I would consider it standard performance for that price range.
I went back and had a look at the two major reviews, and then it became obvious what happenned. Both magazines were sent the entire cable line to review. So only a few brief paragraphs were spent talking about the Blue and Black, while most of the focus was on the 5 times more expensive 'Ultra Black'.
You can ignore Hi-Fi Plus, but Hi-Fi World is a reliable rag and they almost never wax lyrical about cables. So perhaps there is something to the 'Ultra Black' speaker cable and it is worth an audition, but the cheap end range did not work for me.
