The Eichmann plugs evidently make a big difference

I recently got a pair of Paul's reference Anti-ICs with the cotton-wrapped-silver inner conductor and silver Eichmann Bullet Plugs, and it is superb. Connecting my pre to power amp it is detailed, lifelike, and also well-balanced and musical, without excess brightness. On the other hand I also tried a basic Anti-IC with Neutrik RCAs for my CD-to-pre connection and found it to be smooth but too dark-sounding, lacking the ultimate detail and dynamics. Apparently it is worthwhile to go at least for the copper Eichmanns on the Anti-IC: Paul's price for this upgrade is very reasonable. The exception might be for those whose system is already a bit bright, where the the basic version might calm things down nicely.

Incidentally the Neutrik RCA, though apparently well-made,is a very inexpensive plug, costing less than $2 apiece.
